Over the last few weeks I've been practising painting flowers. Not sure if I've achieved the look I would like but they are fun to paint with watercolour. I'm not short of subject matter as there are so many interesting and diverse Australian flora to see. I especially love the gum blossom and the Grevilleas in the woodlands and gardens. They are an important food source for native birds and animals.

Exploring flowers with detailed studies but also using abstraction as an artistic expression. My garden is blooming this spring with so much colour, Strelitzias, Clivias and of course the beautiful natives. I can't wait for the Roses to blossom to sketch!
